"Preparing for Lift-Off"
A capable teacher, an optimistic student,
A capable teacher, an optimistic student,
Perhaps this lesson is not really prudent.
But the charts all look right - it's possible to fly
And he's always heard "It never hurts to try."
ALMI Owls :: Egbert :: Walter
Colored Pencil on Bristol Board
I kinda took the theme and ran with it. Nothing came to mind for "Capable" for a while, but I started thinking about my owls, and which one was the least capable flier. It then just made sense for the smartest owl to try and teach him. :)
On a side note, my sister was laughing at me yesterday because I try to use my pencils to the fullest:
Which can get a little ridiculous.
I hope to hear from you!
I like your idea for the prompt. Off to have a peek at your other owls now... I'm intrigued.
ReplyDeleteThis is great, I love it! And I appreciate you including the progression. I don't even know how you sharpened such a short pencil!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Abby! It really is amazing how short those pencils can get as long as the lead doesn't break!
DeleteThis is great! I love the goggles and the diagrams. So cute! And always nice to see some progress pics. (That teeny tiny pencil bit would drive me crazy - too short to hold properly.)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cindy! I really did my research for this one.. Yes, short pencils are hard to really use right, but I think I'm going to take up Harry's idea and get a pencil extender!
DeleteI love that you use your pencils right down to the nub. Now that's dedication! Cute illos, too. :)
ReplyDeletehaha, awesome and clever :)
ReplyDeleteYou really do get the best from your pencils in every way! Beautiful work, I love the green patterning, it's so sumptuous!
ReplyDeleteJess xx
Thank you so much guys, I really try to use the pencils all the way up - no use in wasting money!
DeleteWhat you need is a pencil extender. Should be readily obtainable from all good graphic suppliers.
ReplyDeleteHarry, this is a great idea! I never thought about that - but I will certainly have to get one. I have to take a lot of breaks when they are that short, because it really makes my wrist hurt! :) Thanks for the tip!
DeleteOh, I love it! So vibrant and clever!
